Into the Blue ~ Korcula Island
>> DREAM ON DREAMER <<
(Part II of our Croatian get away)
Slowing it down a notch we found ourselves at our next destination, Korcula Island.
As always we had based our trip around our accommodation and the original plan for a 3 night stay turned into 4 simply so we could experience these 2 boutique stays ... find out more below!
THE DREAMERS CLUB, LUMBARDA
A bohemian sanctuary, perfectly located on the beautiful island of Korcula, The dreamers club is an Eco aparthotel, 6km from Korcula old town.
This place has so much charm and fits the Eco-chic title perfectly. The owner Tanya was super friendly and welcoming, one of life's shining stars! You can really tell that all of the details around the boutique are personal touches and a reflection of Tanya's personality ~ everything about the place oozes love, health, eco & relaxation.
It's beach front location and mediterranean gardens with chill out areas, was the perfect setting to relax after a day in the sun and what better way to watch the sun go down than with a glass of vino overlooking the harbour?!
LUMBARDA ~ DAILY WANDERINGS & LOCAL EATERIES
Lumbarda felt very 'local' and slow paced, which was refreshing. It was easy to unwind and forget what time of day it was, which is what holidays are all about right?!
The tourists tend to flock for the sand beaches, but we found the best way to experience Croatia is to find a quiet (and flat!) area on the rocks. When you want to cool-off you can dive straight into the crystal clear waters! We found a private little cove, about a 30 minute walk around the bay from the Dreamers Club, just the two of us - paradise!
1. My favourite has to be the little shack on the waters edge just around the bay from The Dreamers Club, 'Gavuni', serving the most delicious fresh local seafood. As the daylight dropped the night lights around the bay danced on the water .. magic!
2. Konoba was also delightful - eating beneath olive trees, delicately lit with tiny little lights hanging all around - oh the romance! Konoba serves fresh produce picked from their very own walled garden, which I love!
Our second boutique hotel was set peacefully in the cutest little cove with mountain & sea views. Tara's lodge is a perfectly formed modern boutique hide away. With a private beach area and bean bag sun loungers, we knew we had found a pretty good spot! We lounged (a lot!) but also took the paddle boards out to explore the cove!
At Tara's you are never too far away from Mimi's bar (onsite!), if we felt peckish, needed a beverage or just wanted to take some shade, Mimi's bar is perfectly placed at the back of the little beach .. also serving a great coffee and fresh fruit breakfast in the morning! What else could one need..?!
We explored Korcula old town from both of these beautiful boutiques, but our favourite had to be the taxi boat from Tara's lodge ... THE way to travel to the old town ... as you come into Korcula harbour you get the most exquisite view of the old town from the ocean! Windy but worth it, especially of an evening with the sun going down!
KORCULA OLD TOWN
Otherwise known as 'Little Dubrovnik', Korcula old town is full of atmosphere! Every turn is a back street bustling with little boutiques and eateries. Every corner, a perfect photo opportunity.. so many beaten old doors bursting with character! The sunsets in the old town are some of the best I've seen.. light piercing through the streets like fire!
Writing these posts takes me straight back to this beautiful island! Even though I do love the crisp cosy weather over the festive period, I am longing for some sunshine!! So am now planning our get aways for 2018! ..
As always, thank you for visiting! Please feel free to leave a comment below! I will come back on any questions!
Stay tuned for our last Croatia stop ... Hvar!
